Setting up DART Advertising

DART is an online trafficking platform by DoubleClick.  yospaceCDS provides integration with DART allowing customer to use their DART account to decide where and when advertising is added into delivered videos.  When using DART with yospaceCDS, videos are automatically 'stitched' together by yospaceCDS, just like in standard yospaceCDS Promotions, however the decision on what advertisement is used is made by DART.

If you use DART to select adverts for your online properties, the integration with yospaceCDS allows for an easy extension of your advertising sales into mobile video.

Setting up a DART Promotion

  • Create the Campaign you wish to add the Promotion to.  You may find it convenient to add all of your DART Promotions to a single campaign.
  • Click "Create DART Promotion", the DART Promotion set-up screen should appear.
  • The Name, Description, Campaign, Supports Audio, and State fields are the same as in setting up a regular Promotion (see Setting up Advertising main article).
  • Set DART Account to your DART ID (this is the value that is set in the DART request as k=)
    DART Parameters
  • Add DART Keywords as required.  You can have as many as you like, these are sent to the DART server as name value pairs. The example shown above, will send k=yospace/petshow;kw=cats. You will need to consult your DART account manager to determine what these keywords should be according to your targeting requirements.
  • You can set where you want the advert to appear:
    • Before Content (pre-roll) -- a single DART request is made, with the keyword yopos=PRE
    • After Content (post-roll) -- a single DART request is made, with the keyword yopos=POST
    • The Same Ads Before and After Content -- a single DART request will be made, with the keyword yopos=PRE
    • Different Ads Before and After Content -- two requests are made to DART, the first with keyword yopos=PRE and the second with the keyword yopos=POST
    Advert Location
  • Select to which Content Groups you want this DART Promotion to affect.  Whenever a video is delivered from the relevant Content Group it will apply this DART Promotion to it (unless there is another Promotion active on this Content Group which has a higher priority).
    • All Content Groups.  The Promotion will be active across all Content Groups.  See note below on "Send Feed in DART Request"
    • A specific Content Group.  This will require you to set-up a DART Promotion for each Content Group you want DART targeted advertising on.  However this provides you control over the keywords that are sent.
    Apply Ads Selector
  • Select "Send Output Feed ID in DART Request" if you want yospaceCDS to send the Output Feed ID through which the video was accessed to the DART server as keyword yofeed within the k parameter. In this example, the complete keyword set will be k=yospace/petshow;kw=cats;yofeed=12342393821

  • If your application is adding additional parameters to the yospaceCDS Access URLs, then add the names of these parameters to the Pass Following Parameters list in a comma separated list.  For example, if your application is tracking a user ID, it can be passed through to DART using this option.

  • If you wish to have a separate system for tracking hits to your videos, then supply a URL in the Tracking URL field.  This URL is hit every time the Promotion is matched.
  • The remaining fields, To Requests From, To Requests On or After, And Strictly Before, Maximum Impressions and Priority are the same as in setting up a regular Promotion (see Setting up Advertising main article).
